Oh, to explain a little about our humor on the name. Here is a little humor we have been enjoying around here in the creation of the all new Teenbit Teen Mag.
If you are wondering where on earth the potato chip bag concept came from ? Well it is really pretty simple from a computer geek viewpoint. Alright here is the answer ready. I think this is funny anyway. Data is measured in units known as bits and bytes. Eight Bits = One Byte of data. For data transmission purposes data is packaged into data packets also known as "PACs" and transmitted in simple terms kind of like letters a postman might carry or bags of potato chips a snack & vending delivery truck might take to your local grocery store or local vending machine. This is an over simplified definition just to give you a feeling for where the humor came from. One key difference. Instead of waiting for the mailman, grocery store or vending machine. The data packet is sent to your computer almost instantly over the Internet. So when while you are downloading your favorite web pages. You can think of it as your computer is eating potato chips at a rate that would completely boggle the mind. What a pig your computer is to continuously eat chips or packets :) If you downloaded 1 megabyte (Million 1 bytes) of data ? Imagine eating 8 million potato chips? Would any of us be sick ? The great news is your computer doesn't even gain an ounce after all that eating. It's weight can only be seen as data occupying your hard drive in your computer. Hey alright quit eating those chips :) If we could only be so lucky. If only we could eat all day and not gain weight. We hope this gives a little information as to our odd since of humor here at Teenbit Online magazine. Eat all the Teenbit you like. We are serving it up all for free.
When you see someone advertising 1 MB it sometimes makes since to ask is this 1 Megabit or 1 Megabyte they are referring too ? Often in data transmission speed claims there are games played in exactly how they came up with the number they are claiming. Cable Internet boast download speeds of up to 6 megabyte. They do not boldly advertise that the upload speed is only often 384 KB.
